COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (substitute, one year)

In this position you will have a chance to help tell the world about the entrepreneurial culture of Aalto community and use your skills to enhance alumni engagement. In your work, you will be supported by creative colleagues in the university’s communications team.
Your role and goals
Your role includes communication responsibilities of two entities, entrepreneurial mindset and alumni communications.
Aalto community is widely known for its energetic entrepreneurial mindset. Fostering a strong and inspiring entrepreneurial culture has been chosen as one of the cross-cutting approaches in Aalto University’s new strategy. Advancing strategy implementation and entrepreneurial capabilities throughout the community as well as supporting student-driven activities and initiatives by means of communication is central to this role. You will work in close co-operation with the management, the schools of Aalto University, Aalto Ventures Program (AVP) and key student organisations.
Aalto University has 100 000 alumni in over 80 countries. They are an essential part of our community, connecting the university and a wide range of sectors in societies and businesses worldwide. The university offers alumni various opportunities for networking, participation and self-development throughout their lives. You plan and conduct communication and marketing for enhancing alumni engagement, including career communications, together with the alumni and career services team.
Your experience and competencies
To be successful in this role, the qualities we consider as important are:
- A university degree, e.g. in media, journalism, marketing, social sciences, business or technology
- Solid experience in strategic communications planning and execution
- Insight and experience in targeted marketing operations
- Good understanding of entrepreneurship
- Strong digital skills and a proven ability to produce and edit high-quality content for multiple channels
- Capacity to work well in a fluid and autonomous environment
- A strong sense of scheduling and deadline, and capability to work in multiple, demanding projects and initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent English and Finnish written and verbal skills
- Excellent networking skills
- Willingness to listen and learn as well as to motivate, support and inspire others
- A curious and open mind
